GPT Create Recipe Dialog

The GPT Create Recipe Dialog helps you quickly create a new recipe using AI assistance. It works by sending your flavor and recipe style to a custom GPT, which generates a full Ice Cream Calc–compatible JSON recipe that you can import instantly.

How It Works

  1. Enter the Flavor Name
    Type the name of your recipe (e.g., “Vanilla”, “Salted Caramel”, or “Pistachio”).
  2. Select the Recipe Style
    Choose one of the available types:
    • Ice cream
    • Gelato
    • Custard
    • Vegan ice cream
    • Vegan gelato
    • Sorbet
    • Sherbet
    • Other
      If selecting Other you can type further instructions in the Description
  3. Description
    Here you can add further instructions to the GPT.
  4. Run the GPT Prompt
    When you click OK, your web browser opens a custom GPT with a pre-filled prompt tailored to your flavor and selected style. Just run the prompt.
  5. Copy the Generated Recipe
    Once the GPT returns a JSON-formatted recipe, copy it to your clipboard.
  6. Paste Back into Ice Cream Calc
    Switch back to Ice Cream Calc. The software will automatically detect the JSON from your clipboard and import the recipe.

  • Add a description or further instructions (optional)
  • Use the GPT
  • Paste the result
  • Recipe ready!

Tips

  • Be descriptive! A flavor name like “Caramel swirl with roasted pecans” helps the GPT create more accurate results.
  • Make sure your clipboard contains valid JSON before switching back to Ice Cream Calc.
  • You can edit or fine-tune the recipe once it’s imported.
