You can extract a base from a list of recipes. In the recipe dialog select a set of recipes and press the Create base button.
The common ingredients and weights from the recipes are extracted and added to a base.
The Base tab shows the base and the recipes to show how the base is created.

The Recipes tab shows how the recipes would change if the base is applied. It also shows a percentage of how much the base is of the converted recipe.

This dialog creates a new ingredient using AI.

Name – the name of the ingredient
Description – An optional description or guide to the AI
Ingredients – If you have the ingredient list of the product you like to add copy it here to help the AI.

Now just press OK and the AI will create the ingredient.
When the ingredient is created you will be shown a description of the ingredient and a confidence rating.

Press OK and the Edit Ingredient dialog will be opened and you can review and accept the ingredient.

The GPT Create Recipe Dialog helps you quickly create a new recipe using AI assistance. It works by sending your flavor and recipe style to a custom GPT, which generates a full Ice Cream Calc–compatible JSON recipe that you can import instantly.

How It Works

1. Enter the Flavor Name
   Type the name of your recipe (e.g., “Vanilla”, “Salted Caramel”, or “Pistachio”).
2. Select the Recipe Style
   Choose one of the available types:
   • Ice cream
   • Gelato
   • Custard
   • Vegan ice cream
   • Vegan gelato
   • Sorbet
   • Sherbet
   • Other
     If selecting Other you can type further instructions in the Description
3. Description
   Here you can add further instructions to the GPT.
4. Run the GPT Prompt
   When you click OK, your web browser opens a custom GPT with a pre-filled prompt tailored to your flavor and selected style. Just run the prompt.
5. Copy the Generated Recipe
   Once the GPT returns a JSON-formatted recipe, copy it to your clipboard.
6. Paste Back into Ice Cream Calc
   Switch back to Ice Cream Calc. The software will automatically detect the JSON from your clipboard and import the recipe.

Tips

• Be descriptive! A flavor name like “Caramel swirl with roasted pecans” helps the GPT create more accurate results.
• Make sure your clipboard contains valid JSON before switching back to Ice Cream Calc.
• You can edit or fine-tune the recipe once it’s imported.

The Online Recipe Dialog in Ice Cream Calc is a powerful tool that allows you to seamlessly import recipes from websites or typed notes directly into the application.

How It Works

Paste a Recipe or URL
Open the Online Recipe Dialog and either:
– Paste a full recipe (in plain text format)
– Paste a link to a web page that contains a recipe

Custom GPT Processing
When you submit the recipe or link, a custom GPT is opened in your web browser with a ready-to-use prompt. Simply run the prompt, and the GPT will generate a standardized JSON format that Ice Cream Calc uses internally.

Copy the Generated Recipe
Copy the JSON recipe from the GPT’s response to your clipboard.

Import by Switching Windows
When you Alt+Tab back into Ice Cream Calc, the software automatically checks your clipboard. If it detects a valid JSON recipe, it will immediately prompt to import it.

Behind the Scenes

The custom GPT understands various recipe formats and can:
– Interpret ingredient amounts and units
– Convert common ingredient names into ICC-compatible names
– Fills in reasonable defaults or estimates for vague inputs (e.g. “pinch of salt” becomes 1g)
– Output a clean, structured JSON recipe ready for import

Tips for Best Results

– Recipes in English or structured format give the best results
– Avoid vague phrases — add your best estimate for quantities
– Use metric units (grams, ml) when possible for greater accuracy

Troubleshooting

If nothing happens when switching back to Ice Cream Calc, ensure:
– Your clipboard still contains the JSON
– The JSON is properly formatted (flat structure, no nested fields)
– You’re using the latest version of Ice Cream Calc

Set the data used in a radar chart.

Use radar charts to analyze recipes. Specify multiple data items with min and max ranges.
Press the + button top add a new chart or the edit button to edit the selected chart.

Clamp max If a value in a recipe is larger than the Max value set in the chart you can decide if the value should be clamped to the max value or not.
Show legend Turns on/off the recipe names.
Auto adjust Adjusts the min and max ranges for all data to the min and max values in the recipes if they are outside the ranges set in the chart.

Create or edit a map used in the perceptual map dialog.

With perceptual maps you can analyze recipes by two independent data items. You design one X-axis and one Y-axis and set min and max ranges. Each selected recipe is displayed as circles in the map.

You can pan and zoom in the map using the mouse wheel. Hold the mouse wheel to pan and scroll the mouse wheel to zoom.

You can zoom to the axis ranges or to the recipe ranges using the zoom buttons.

To add a custom map press the + button. Edit map.

Configure recipe user data. Use the + button to add a new item. Edit the default column to set default values.

Shows the recipe for a set of user defined weights.
Use the + button to add a weight column.
Use the – button to remove a weight column.
You can also export to Excel or CSV or Print the grid.
